Who has treatment?
All age groups and types of constitution. I find that while many of my patients have specific symptoms, some may wish to improve their general energy levels and sense of well being, while others seek to prevent symptoms returning.
I will always take any previous or current illness or medication into account before providing treatment. With suitable adjustments e.g. for dosage of herbs, and with some provisos, children and pregnant women can well be treated by Chinese Medicine.
Some commonly treated conditions:
- Skin disease, including eczema, psoriasis, acne, dermatitis, rosacea, urticaria, sebhorrhoeic dermatitis, pityriasis, urticaria, vitiligo, lichen simplex.
- Gastro-intestinal disorders, including heartburn, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic constipation, ulcerative colitis, gastritis, loose bowels.
- Gynaecological conditions, including menstrual problems, endometriosis, infertility, PMT.
- Hepatitis and HIV: some promising results have been obtained for treatment of Hepatitis C, and supportive treatment may be beneficial in the case of HIV.
- Chronic fatigue syndromes, whether with a background of viral infection or in other situations.
- Respiratory conditions, including asthma, bronchitis, and chronic coughs, allergic and perennial rhinitis and sinusitis.
- Musculo-Skeletal and Neurological: e.g. osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, sprains, lumbago, Bell ’s palsy, Bursitis, Hemiplegia, Sciatica, frozen shoulder, sports injuries, neuralgia, osteoporosis.
- Urinary conditions including chronic cystitis, prostate disorders.
- Psychological: stress, insomnia, depression, anxiety, fatigue, phobias.
- Children's diseases
- Other conditions: tiredness, colds, headaches, migraine, hay fever, hair loss, haemorrhoids, diabetes, palpitations, high or low blood pressure.
Many of these conditions, especially in their chronic forms, create great difficulty for conventional medicine, whilst Chinese herbal medicine has a great deal to offer. The results that can be expected and the length of treatment required will depend on the severity of the condition, its duration, and the general health of the patient.
